Policy

Please review the studio policies below before beginning lessons.

Lesson Scheduling

Lessons are scheduled at a consistent weekly time agreed upon by the teacher and student. This reserved time is held specifically for the student each week.

Students are expected to arrive on time. If a student arrives late, the lesson will still end at the scheduled time.

Cancellation Policy

  • At least 24 hours notice is required to cancel or reschedule a lesson.
  • Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours notice will be charged in full, as the reserved time cannot be filled on short notice.
  • If the teacher must cancel a lesson, a make-up lesson or credit will be provided.

Make-Up Lessons

  • One make-up lesson per month may be offered if proper notice is given (24+ hours).
  • Make-up lessons must be scheduled within 30 days of the missed lesson. After that time, the lesson is forfeited.
  • Make-up lessons are subject to availability.

Payment Policy

Lessons must be paid in advance. Payment may be made weekly or monthly depending on the student's preference.

Accepted payment methods:

  • Cash
  • Zelle
  • Venmo
  • Check

Late payments may result in the student's lesson time being released.

Holidays & Studio Closures

Lessons will not be held on major holidays or during scheduled studio breaks. These dates will be communicated in advance.

Discontinuing Lessons

If a student chooses to stop lessons, two weeks notice is required. This allows the teacher time to adjust scheduling and offer the time slot to another student.

Parent Involvement (for younger students)

Parents are encouraged to support consistent practice at home. Progress in music requires regular practice between lessons.

Practice Expectations

Students are expected to practice regularly between lessons. Consistent practice leads to faster improvement and a more enjoyable learning experience.

Recitals & Performances

Students may have opportunities to participate in optional recitals or studio performances throughout the year. These events are encouraged but not required.

Regular practice is essential for improvement.

Most beginner students should practice 15–30 minutes per day, at least 5 days per week. As students advance, practice time may increase.

Consistent practice is the biggest factor in student progress.

30-minute and 60-minute lessons are offered depending on the student's age, experience level, and goals.

For younger students, parents are welcome to sit in during lessons, especially during the first few weeks.

As students become more comfortable, lessons often run more smoothly one-on-one with the student.

Students will need:

  • Piano lesson books (assigned by the teacher)
  • A notebook for assignments
  • A pencil
  • A piano or keyboard at home for practice

Appropriate books will be recommended based on the student's level.

Learning piano is a long-term skill. Most students begin playing simple songs within the first few months.

With consistent practice, students gradually develop technique, reading ability, and musical understanding over time.

Students may have opportunities to participate in optional recitals or studio performances throughout the year.

These events help build confidence and celebrate each student's progress.
